"Se li chiamate pugliesi vi fanno notare con garbo che loro preferirebbero essere chiamati salentini. Non è per una questione di campanile, spiegano gentilmente, ma perché il Salento non è soltanto un pezzo di Puglia: è una terra con una storia e una cultura proprie. Geograficamente siamo nel tacco d'Italia, in quella che Guido Piovene definì "terra dei miraggi" ovvero MIERU, PEZZETTI e CAZZOTTI!
